Lying ram (Schafbock No. 18)

Reclining Ram (Schafbock No. 18), a model in very nice condition, designed for the Allach Manufactory by the renowned sculptor Theodor Kärner.

Design: The figurine is characterized by extraordinary anatomical precision and realistic reproduction, a hallmark of Kärner's work. The ram is captured in a natural, peaceful reclining pose, with its head turned to the left and characteristically curled horns. It is made of high-quality, white, glazed porcelain (Weißporzellan), which emphasizes the elegance of its form and the craftsmanship. Original pieces of this model have a green, underglaze signature on the underside with two intertwined SS runes ("Sieg") and an embossed model number "18." The artist's signature "T. KÄRNER" is often also present. The Porzellan Manufaktur Allach was taken over by Heinrich Himmler in 1936 and became part of the SS apparatus, utilizing forced labor from prisoners at the Dachau concentration camp. Allach products, including animal figurines, were intended to embody Germanic aesthetic ideals and were often given as prestigious gifts to dignitaries.
