Original German military visor cap (Schirmmütze) issued to enlisted personnel and non-commissioned officers of the medical branch (Sanitätstruppe) of the Luftwaffe. The body of the cap is tailored from standard issue blue-gray wool tricot cloth, known for its durable properties. Stitched along the crown edge and around the dark mohair wool center band is the traditional cornflower blue wool piping (Waffenfarbe), strictly designating medical and sanitary units. The front of the cap displays a fully intact, original two-piece insignia set stamped from lightweight aluminum with fine definition. The upper section features the distinctive flying Luftwaffe eagle clutching a swastika, while the lower band holds the national tricolor cockade enclosed by a stylized oak leaf wreath with extended flight wings. Positioned above the black vulcanized fiber visor is the original black leather chinstrap, secured by two black painted metal buttons. The internal chamber is lined with a dark gray satin cloth, showing period diamond-shaped stitch lines where the sweat diamond was once attached.
