Original German political leader visor cap (Schirmmütze) issued to administrative officials of the NSDAP at the local town level (Ortsgruppe). The main body of the cap is tailored from high-quality wool fabric in the distinct olive-mustard tan shade distinctive to the National Socialist political corps. The center band is wrapped in a rich dark brown velvet material. Sewn along the upper edge of the crown and flanking the velvet center band is the traditional white wool piping (Waffenfarbe), strictly denoting assignment to the Ortsgruppe command tier following the 1939 uniform regulations. The front features a fully intact, original set of metal political insignia, including a prominent early-style political eagle with outspread straight wings clutching a wreathed swastika, and a large multi-piece oak leaf cluster centered with a national swastika cockade. Positioned above the brown lacquered vulcanized fiber visor is the correct double-strand gold bullion officer's chin cord, secured by two small, pebbled gilt buttons. The inner compartment is lined with a sand-colored satin fabric, showing the size stamp 59 printed clearly on the underside of the crown. Positioned beneath the fragile, naturally age-worn tan leather sweatband is a remarkable historical asset: a 100% authentic RZM paper control label for cloth headgear (Tuchmütze) bearing the printed serial number No 286432. The exterior wool and velvet fields show excellent color and density with minimal storage wear, leaving this fine political visor in textbook, unmanipulated museum condition.
Historical context:
The uniform guidelines for the NSDAP Political Leadership Corps underwent a massive restructuring in 1939 to clearly signify organizational authority via color-coded piping systems across hats and collar tabs. White designated the Ortsgruppe (local level), light red signified the Kreisleitung (district level), dark red represented the Gauleitung (regional level), and vibrant yellow was exclusive to the Reichsleitung (national leadership). Officials of the Ortsgruppe were the grassroots backbone of the party administration, interacting directly with the local populace. Political caps that retain their delicate RZM paper manufacturing labels beneath the sweatband are intensely coveted by advanced headgear collectors today, as these paper certificates rarely survived post-war storage conditions.
