Hahn Hermann, Solingen-Wald

The company Hermann Hahn, Stahlwarenfabrik was established in 1820 in Solingen-Wald. Boasting a long history in precision craftsmanship, the firm originally specialized in general steelware production before expanding its operations during the Third Reich era to include official contracts for edged weapons, specifically focusing on the SA service dagger (Sturmabteilung) [M1933]. Situated in Solingen-Wald, the manufacturer built upon the region's deeply rooted traditions as the epicenter of German blade craftsmanship.

In 1935, the company was officially assigned the RZM code M7/71 for the manufacturing of NSDAP political organization daggers. Hermann Hahn manufactured an estimated total of only 1,000 SA service daggers. This extremely limited production run grants these pieces an exceptional rarity rating of 4/5 (highly rare), making them immensely coveted by advanced military antiques collectors. These early-production pieces feature classic solid nickel-silver fittings and bear the iconic etched blade motto "Alles für Deutschland". Crossguards are frequently found stamped with specific SA group (Gau) markings, such as Om (Ostmark) and S (Silesia).

The distinctive trademark or logo of Hermann Hahn consists of a circular emblem. The text "HERMANN HAHN" is placed along the upper arc, with "SOL.-WALD" following the lower arc. In the center sits a stylized monogram "HH", flanked on either side by two stars. This design, which conveys a classic aesthetic of quality, was typically etched directly onto the blades. Today, surviving daggers from this maker represent a remarkably scarce chapter in Solingen cutlery history.
