Description

An exceptional and fully authentic German Model 1916 (M16) steel helmet featuring a rare camouflage variant. The shell was manufactured by Eisenhuette Silesia in Paruschowitz, Upper Silesia, identified by the maker and size stamp: Si66. The helmet stands out with its genuine "three-tone camo" – a field-applied camouflage in shades of green, brown, and ochre without the harsh black separation lines typically found on standard Mimikri patterns. This specimen is in "untouched" condition: it retains its original steel liner band and factory-bent rivets, confirming that the helmet has never been disassembled or restored. The surface displays a natural aged patina and historical wear, providing immense character and display value.

Historical Context:
Introduced in 1916, the M16 helmet was designed to protect soldiers from shrapnel during trench warfare. Eisenhuette Silesia (Si) was a key manufacturer supplying helmets to the Imperial German Army. The field camouflage, officially ordered by Ludendorff in July 1918, was intended to break up the soldier's silhouette. This specific example, with its non-bordered painting, represents a scarcer field variation, serving as a significant artifact of German combat gear evolution during the Great War
