An original Honorary Plebiscite Cross, established in 1920 to commemorate individuals involved in the plebiscite action in Upper Silesia. The item features the following physical characteristics:
Form: A badge in the shape of a stylized Greek cross with arms ending in a meander motif.
Material: Crafted from white metal, covered with a natural patina.
Reverse: Smooth with a distinct metal texture. Features a functional horizontal pin (safety pin) mounted on a hinge in the center.
Details: The central medallion (on the obverse) depicts a scene of a Silesian struggling with a Prussian eagle against an industrial background. Below the scene is a shield with the Piast eagle and the inscriptions "GÓRNY ŚLĄSK 1920".
Condition: Good collector's condition. Solid construction with no missing parts. Visible signs of metal oxidation and minor surface scratches, typical for period items.
The Honorary Plebiscite Cross was a prestigious award granted by the Polish Plebiscite Commissariat to those who showed exceptional activity in the struggle to annex Upper Silesia to the reborn Republic of Poland. It is a priceless historical document witnessing the determination of the region's inhabitants during the formation of the borders of the Second Polish Republic.
