Jacobs & Co., Solingen-Gräfrath

The company Jacobs & Co., Stahlwarenfabrik was established in 1908 in Solingen-Gräfrath and officially registered with the Solingen Chamber of Commerce on May 14, 1919. Boasting a long-standing history in steelware craftsmanship, the firm expanded its manufacturing scope during the Third Reich era to include contract production of political edged weapons, establishing itself as an authorized manufacturer of SA service daggers (Sturmabteilung) [M1933]. Situated in Solingen-Gräfrath, the manufacturer operated in the absolute center of German blade craft.

In 1935, the factory was officially assigned the RZM codes M7/26 and M7/118, as well as highly specialized production codes for the Schutzstaffel: 324/37/SS and 324/38/SS. Jacobs & Co. manufactured an estimated total of approximately 1,000 SA service daggers. This production volume grants these historical pieces a 4/5 rarity rating (highly rare) among military antiques collectors. These daggers feature premium solid nickel-silver fittings and bear the iconic etched blade motto "Alles für Deutschland". Crossguards are historically documented with distribution markings to the SA group (Gau) He (Hessen-Nassau). Trading and industrial activity for the firm concluded after World War II.

The highly distinctive trademark or logo of Jacobs & Co. features a sophisticated circular emblem. The text "JACOBS & CO." runs along the upper arc, with "SOLINGEN-GRÄFRATH" following the lower edge. Positioned at the center is a stylized "Jco" monogram, frequently flanked by small dots. This detailed dark gray maker mark, representing the company's tradition and quality standards, was typically etched directly onto the lower part of the blade, often appearing alongside the round RZM emblem and the M7/118 control code. Today, surviving products from this maker represent a pinnacle collectible, making them excellent reference examples for a comprehensive blank weapons encyclopedia.
