Köller Hugo, Solingen

The company Hugo Köller, Stahlwarenfabrik was established in 1861 in Solingen. Boasting a long-standing history in cutlery and blade craftsmanship, the firm expanded its production scope during the Third Reich era to include the manufacture of political edged weapons, with a primary focus on early SA service daggers (Sturmabteilung). Situated in Solingen, the manufacturer operated in the absolute center of German blade craft.

The factory produced these daggers strictly in the period prior to 1935, and consequently, these pieces do not bear any RZM markings. Hugo Köller manufactured an estimated total of approximately 8,000 SA service daggers. This production volume grants these historical pieces a 3.5/5 rarity rating (moderately rare) among military antiques collectors. These early-production pieces bear the iconic etched blade motto "Alles für Deutschland" and reflect the firm's legacy of functional, high-quality manufacturing.

The highly distinctive trademark or logo of Hugo Köller features a clean, minimalist layout. It typically consisted of the text "Hugo Köller Solingen" etched directly onto the lower part of the blade in a plain, straightforward font. This simple yet functional maker mark emphasized the manufacturer's practical orientation and makes their products highly recognizable in the collector's scene today. Surviving products from this maker represent an important chapter of Solingen's industrial history, making them excellent reference examples for any comprehensive blank weapons encyclopedia.

Hugo Köller Solingen is an 1861-established cutlery and blade maker. Produced approx. 8,000 early SA daggers (3.5/5 rarity) prior to 1935 without RZM markings, featuring a simple "Hugo Köller Solingen" etched signature.
