Description

An authentic German Naval Officer's dagger (Kriegsmarine) Model 1938, crafted by the premier edged weapon manufacturer Carl Eickhorn of Solingen.
The ricasso features the iconic "Original Squirrel" hallmark (Original Eickhorn Solingen), the ultimate seal of quality and period authenticity.
The blade is double-etched with intricate maritime designs, including anchors, floral patterns, and wave motifs, all preserved with excellent clarity and contrast.
The ivory-colored Trolon grip remains intact with its original brass wire wrap, topped by a highly detailed eagle pommel.
The crossguard features a functional locking button and the central anchor motif, with much of the original fire gilding still present across the hilt components.
Accompanied by its original "lightning" scabbard and a regulation silver bullion portepee, forming a complete and prestigious officer's ensemble.

Historical Context:
Carl Eickhorn's workshop in Solingen was the gold standard for edged weapons in the Third Reich. Naval daggers with etched blades were premium, private-purchase items, favored by officers who sought to emphasize their status. The etched patterns reflect centuries of naval tradition. Eickhorn daggers from this period are renowned for their superior balance and steel quality. While some souvenir assembly occurred post-war, early pieces with the classic squirrel logo and high-relief etching remain the most coveted artifacts in the nautical militaria market.
