Description

Original German military decoration the Iron Cross 2nd Class reinstituted in 1939 for exceptional bravery in the field.
Classic three-piece construction featuring a magnetic blackened iron core and a silvered frame with unique manufacturing details.
This specimen is unmarked on the suspension ring which is common for many wartime products from this specific manufacturer.
The distinctive frame die features and the specific font of the 1939 date allow for attribution to the famous Viennese firm of Rudolf Souval.
The obverse features a centrally placed swastika with sharp edges and the 1939 date located on the lower arm.
The silvered frame exhibits a fine aged patina while the iron core retains most of its original black finish with natural signs of aging.
This cross is a classic example of WWII-era phaleristics and remains a highly sought-after maker variant for specialized collectors.
