Italo-German African Campaign Medal – Marked Lorioli – Original

Original commemorative medal instituted by the Italian command to honor German Afrika Korps (DAK) and Italian troops who fought in Libya and Egypt.
The reverse depicts two pillars (Arco dei Fileni), with the Italian Fasces on the left and the German swastika on the right, symbolizing the Axis alliance.
The bottom section features a stylized crocodile devouring the British lion, representing the Axis military successes over the British Empire in Africa.
Clearly marked on the reverse with the designer's name DE MARCHIS on the left and the prestigious manufacturer LORIOLI MILANO on the right.
Crafted from bronzed metal alloy (tombac or zinc), preserved in very good condition and complete with the original ribbon in German and Italian national colors.
These medals were highly prized by veterans of the desert war and serve as a significant artifact of the military cooperation between the Wehrmacht and the Italian army between 1941 and 1943.
