Description

The subject of the auction is an authentic, pre-war miniature of the commemorative badge of the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment of the Legions. The badge is preserved in the condition visible in the photos, with a natural, noble patina, characteristic of old metal products. The surface of the metal (probably silver-plated tombac) shows signs of use and the passage of time, which is typical for original, historical items.
Physical features and condition:

Appearance: The badge has the shape of a Maltese cross with elongated vertical arms. The centrally applied state emblem (eagle model 1927) is clear and well-fitted to the cross. The initials and number are visible on the arms: "2", "P.A.P.", "LEG.".
Material: The soldier's version or miniature is usually made of silver-plated tombac (or white metal).
Condition: The overall condition is very good, with minor abrasions of the silver plating in convex areas, which adds authenticity to the item. There is no visible mechanical damage or enamel chips (this badge was not enameled in this version).
Reverse and fastening: The reverse is smooth. The badge is attached with a post and an original nut.

Historical outline:
The 2nd Field Artillery Regiment of the Legions (later the 2nd Light Artillery Regiment of the Legions) was a unit of the Polish Army of the Second Polish Republic stationed in Kielce. The regiment was established in 1919 and was part of the 2nd Brigade of the Polish Legions. The regiment's commemorative badge was approved by the order of the Minister of Military Affairs in May 1929. It was a symbol of belonging to an elite unit with rich legionary and combat traditions, including fights on the Niemen in 1920.
