Description

Original, antique historical item from the period of World War I or the Second Polish Republic (II RP). This miniature ZSN badge is a testament to Polish independence efforts and the political and military activity of paramilitary organizations during that era.

Appearance and condition
The badge has the form of a square, faceted (cut) shield, made of silver. It has visible hallmarks confirming the material and authenticity. Its condition can be described as superb condition, meaning minimal signs of use and the passage of time. The metal surface retains its original, silver appearance; only a natural, noble patina is visible.

On the reverse of the miniature there are clear hallmarks and a signature:

  • Initials "AN" (or in Cyrillic "AH") - signed by the engraver A. Nagalski from Warsaw.
  • Assay hallmark in an oval with the number "238". These markings indicate manufacture in high-grade silver (875/1000 pure silver).

The badge attachment is a threaded post with an original, signed screw back. The screw back is signed with the inscription "A. NAGALSKI I S-KA WARSZAWA" (or a similar variant, e.g., "M. LASZCZEWSKI GRAWER WARSZAWA"). The fastening is fully functional.

Absence of specific flaws or blemishes is rare for items of this age, making this example particularly valuable for collectors.

Historical context
This badge is associated with the Naczelny Komitet Narodowy (NKN) or the Polish Riflemen's Association (Związek Strzelecki). These badges were issued as commemorative awards for soldiers, members, and supporters of the organization, commemorating the fight for independence between 1914 and 1918. The fact that it is a miniature with a hallmark and a signed screw back from a renowned Warsaw engraver suggests high quality and the official nature of the decoration.
