Description

An authentic German box belt buckle intended for enlisted men and non-commissioned officers of the SA Sturmabteilung or the National Socialist Motor Corps NSKK. This specific piece displays a classic early two-piece bi-metal construction type with an excellent material contrast. The main chassis of the buckle is formed from a heavy gauge brass sheet. The obverse is centered with a separately struck circular light-metal alloy medallion framed by a stylized oak leaf wreath with a smooth internal field. The center of the medallion showcases a sharply detailed early-pattern national party eagle with wide-spread wings, clutching a wreathed swastika. The reverse of the buckle is characterized by a prominent, wide, and irregular factory lead-tin solder flow that firmly binds the applied obverse roundel to the brass base. The design is equipped with a functional dual-prong fork assembly mounted on a steel transverse spindle alongside an integrated catch loop. The piece is covered in a beautiful natural age patina with honest service wear that firmly establishes its historical authenticity.

Brass SA and NSKK belt buckles featuring separately applied medallions represent the earliest, pre-war tier of manufacturing for Third Reich political and paramilitary organizational equipment from the 1930s. The distinct assembly technique visible on the reverse, featuring a generous spread of factory solder, is a completely textbook technological trait of certain early metalworking firms from this era. This method ensured maximum structural durability during rigorous field service and public parades. The absence of visible manufacturer markings on the reverse is entirely correct for early contracts executed before the strict standardization of RZM control codes.

Desirable early two-piece variation with a heavy gauge brass base plate
Prominent, irregular factory solder application securing the clear-faced disc on the reverse
Original and complete mechanical components including the dual-prong fork assembly
Excellent historical character with a rich uncleaned patina and sharp strike details
