This is an exceptional and rare pair of slip-on shoulder boards intended for a senior NCO holding the rank of Oberfeldwebel and serving in the prestigious position of Company First Sergeant, traditionally known as the Spieß. Crafted from deep black wool cloth typical for the armored and panzergrenadier formations of the elite Hermann Göring Division, these boards feature the white Waffenfarbe piping associated with the division's panzergrenadier regiments. The rank is clearly denoted by the silver-aluminum Tresse and two vertically aligned silver pips, while the highlight of this set is the original red functional cord braided around the base of each board, marking the soldier's appointment as Hauptfeldwebel. These boards remain in superb collector's condition, complete with their mounting tongues and showing a fine natural patina on the metallic insignia with no mechanical damage. The Hermann Göring Division occupied a unique place in the German armed forces as the only armored division within the Luftwaffe, developing its own distinctive uniform regulations that make these specific insignia highly sought after by historical researchers and collectors alike.
