Description

Original German Third Reich wall plaque executed as a heavy solid bronze casting with a pronounced three-dimensional relief. The center of the plaque depicts a left-profile bust of Adolf Hitler in his official National Socialist party uniform, showcasing fine details of the collar, tie, and the swastika armband. At the lower edge of the bust composition, a clear, stylized facsimile signature of the dictator reading Adolf Hitler is integrated into the casting. The architectural shape of the plaque features an arched top section equipped with a factory-made mounting hole for secure wall suspension. The high-quality bronze surface is covered in a deep, genuine age patina with rich dark brown tones and distinct green oxidation highlights in the recessed details, validating its historical age. This piece stands as a textbook example of high-end official period propaganda art utilized for wall display in prominent administrative and political offices between 1933 and 1945.

Historical context:
Cast bronze wall plaques belonged to the premium tier of political propaganda items manufactured after the National Socialist rise to power in 1933. While cheaper stamped sheet metal variants were produced for mass civilian use, substantial bronze castings were specifically commissioned for representative government offices, NSDAP headquarters, and main state institutions. These specific artistic layouts featuring the Leader's facsimile signature had to pass strict approval by the Reich Chancellery before entering production. Due to the high scrap value of the metal and the extensive postwar Allied denazification efforts, most bronze plaques were melted down, making surviving well-preserved specimens highly sought-after artifacts today.
