An authentic German box belt buckle intended for enlisted men and non-commissioned officers of the SA Sturmabteilung or the National Socialist Motor Corps NSKK. This specific piece represents the highly sought-after early two-piece construction type in a premium uniform finish. The main chassis of the buckle and the separately struck circular central medallion framed by a stylized oak leaf wreath are manufactured from a high-quality nickel alloy (or alpacca), giving the piece a distinct, bright silvery luster. The center of the medallion showcases the classic early-pattern national party eagle with wide-spread wings, clutching a wreathed traditional static swastika with sharp corners. The reverse of the buckle reveals the clean structure of the nickel base, an integrated raised catch loop, and a fully operational dual-prong fork assembly on a transverse spindle. Positioned centrally are the two original round factory hard-solder joints securing the obverse disc, which is a completely textbook technological trait of early workshop manufacturing.
Nickel-plated SA and NSKK belt buckles featuring separately applied medallions were primarily produced during the pre-war era and the early 1940s. Due to the highly political and ceremonial nature of these formations, a strong emphasis was placed on uniform presentation, making nickel-finished accoutrements the preferred choice for political rallies and public parades before wartime material restrictions forced a transition to simplified single-piece stamped aluminum and steel variants. Two-piece variations from this era are highly valued by militaria collectors due to their excellent depth of relief and superior level of period craftsmanship. The absence of visible manufacturer markings on the reverse is entirely textbook for early contracts executed before the strict standardization of RZM control codes.
