An authentic Polish commemorative badge of the 6th Heavy Artillery Regiment, which was stationed in Lwów during the Interwar period. The design of the badge features a stylized heavy mortar with a prominent wheel, upon which rests a shield depicting the coat of arms of the city of Lwów. The unit numbers and initials are carefully placed across the mortar spade and three vertically aligned artillery shells. The reverse of the badge is smooth and comes equipped with a sturdy, centrally mounted threaded post. The set is complete with its original brass retaining nut, showcasing clear and deep stamped lettering with the full address of the famous Warsaw workshop. The entire surface exhibits a beautiful, natural age patina and minor signs of time, which perfectly highlight its historical value.
The 6th Heavy Artillery Regiment was officially formed in 1921 and remained closely tied to the Lwów garrison throughout the existence of the Second Polish Republic. This badge design was formally approved by the Minister of Military Affairs and served as a highly prestigious honor for the soldiers and officers serving in the unit. The production was entrusted to the renowned engraving workshop of Wiktor Gontarczyk, located at Miodowa 19 Street in Warsaw. Products from Gontarczyk's workshop are highly celebrated among militaria collectors for their superb design quality and exceptional striking standards of the pre-war era.
