Description

This item is an original commemorative badge (Tagungsabzeichen) issued for the NSDAP District Congress held in Kitzingen am Main in 1938.
The obverse features a vertical sword overlaid on a circular shield, topped by an eagle clutching a wreathed swastika.
The shield's border is inscribed with "KREISTAG" at the top and "KITZINGEN AM MAIN 1938" at the bottom.
Manufactured in magnetic metal using a die-striking process, the badge shows sharp details on both sides.
The reverse is fitted with its original and fully functional horizontal pinback mechanism.

Historical Context:
District congresses (Kreistage) were significant regional events used to mobilize the local population and demonstrate the party's control over provincial areas. These badges were sold as souvenirs to participants, with the proceeds funding the logistical costs of the rallies. In 1938, such gatherings reached their peak intensity as the state sought to project total national unity following the annexation of Austria and during the Sudeten Crisis. Kitzingen am Main served as a traditional Bavarian backdrop for these displays of power. The inclusion of the sword in the badge design was a deliberate attempt to link party ideology with ancient Germanic warrior traditions and military readiness.
