Original German numbered General Assault Badge awarded to motorized infantry, artillery, and combat support personnel for taking part in twenty-five individual days of frontline combat. This high-grade decoration utilizes an advanced two-piece construction method, where the central combat motif featuring a crossed stick grenade and combat daggers is firmly secured to an oval oak leaf wreath using four factory rivets. The obverse layout features a prominent Wehrmacht eagle with outspread wings clutching a swastika, positioned right above the highly detailed weapon profiles. Nestled cleanly at the base of the wreath is a dedicated rectangular box displaying the number twenty-five, indicating the specific class of the award. The reverse exhibits a smooth presentation fitted with a thick vertical mounting pin, heavy-duty top hinge, and functional bottom catch. The right frame of the reverse displays a highly distinct, crisp square-framed manufacturer hallmark reading JFS. Honest wear to the original silver finish on the central weapons, remnants of the gilded wash on the wreath, and beautiful natural patina settling in the recesses together guarantee the frontline heritage of this rare artifact.
The numbered General Assault Badges featuring numbers twenty-five, fifty, seventy-five, and one hundred were formally introduced in June nineteen forty-three to properly honor seasoned non-panzer veterans who continued to survive long-term campaigns. Just as with other assault badges, the number reflects frontline combat days rather than target tallies or material losses. Given the incredibly harsh criteria for earning these higher tiers and the high casualty rates among frontline divisions, these numbered variations were distributed in very limited numbers compared to the basic class. Medals engineered by the historic Josef Feix Söhne workshop in Gablonz an der Neisse are highly sought after by advanced military historians due to their crisp die definition, secure four-rivet alignment, and famous JFS block lettering layout, making this specific item an investment-grade centerpiece.
