Original commemorative tinnie badge issued for the regional SA sports and military defense competitions held in Dortmund in July 1938. The item is professionally crafted from molded plastic, featuring preserved multi-color paintwork on the obverse. The reverse of the badge bears a very clear, embossed manufacturer's signature of the renowned firm Richard Sieper & Söhne from Lüdenscheid. The badge is equipped with a classic vertical steel safety pin, heat-mounted and fully functional. The overall condition is excellent, with sharp embossed details and natural signs of age.
Historical context:
The SA-Sport und Wehrwettkämpfe organized by SA-Gruppe Westfalen were designed for mass mobilization and improving the physical and paramilitary readiness of stormtrooper units. As a key industrial center, Dortmund was a prestigious location for such events, reflected in the badge's rich symbolism combining military motifs with the city's skyline. The use of plastics in badge production during the late 1930s was a modern solution, allowing for high detail while maintaining a lightweight form.
