Julfest commemorative plate from 1942 (Winter Festival)

Julfest (Winter Festival) commemorative plate from 1942, produced by the SS Allach porcelain factory. These items, made of white, glazed porcelain, were personal gifts from Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler or Oswald Pohl, head of the SS Economic and Administrative Main Office (SS-WVHA), and were not available for commercial sale.Around the central motif runs an embossed, decorative inscription in German: "Nur aus Opfern steigt groß das Reich" (Only from sacrifices will a great empire grow).
Below the central symbol is the date "Julfest 1942." Between the words of the inscription are stylized runes (hagal) and symbols of hearts and stars, alluding to Teutonic and pagan rituals that the SS attempted to incorporate into its traditions, moving away from Christian influences. On the underside of the original plate is a green underglaze signature with two intertwined SS runes ("Sieg") and the inscription "Allach."
