Description

Original dress and parade belt buckle issued to personnel and officials of the National Air Raid Protection League (Reichsluftschutzbund – RLB).
This artifact represents an extraordinary militaria rarity, being the earliest premium technological variant die-stamped as a singular monolithic block from heavy, high-nickel copper alloy known as Alpaca (Buntmetall / Neusilber) [kpemig.de, wikipedia.org].
The item features four distinct corner tooling marks on the obverse (with corresponding raised circles on the reverse), which are factory remnants left by the press alignment and tension pins needed to shape the tough nickel-silver sheet [wikipedia.org].
The front center features the sharply struck, official 1st pattern RLB national eagle with its distinctive raised, rounded wings clutching a swastika.
The central eagle design is enclosed within a highly prominent, multi-detailed round laurel leaf wreath joined at the base by a ribbon bow.
The rectangular base plate background surrounding the wreath is completely smooth, displaying the deep silvery-grey luster unique to authentic pre-war Buntmetall alloys without any standard pebbling.
The reverse showcases a heavily soldered, contoured catch sleeve alongside its original, fully active dual-prong wire bar assembly moving smoothly on a fixed cross axis.
The metal surfaces preserve a gorgeous natural age patina, light period wear, and absolute crispness across the die depths, confirming its exceptional historical value.

Historical context:
The Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB) was founded in April 1933 under direct supervision of Hermann Göring to manage civil defense. This specific Buntmetall (Alpaca) specimen represents the absolute first, elite production run from 1933–1935, manufactured before strict resource mobilization laws forced factories to abandon expensive nickel-silver alloys in favor of lightweight aluminum and steel [kpemig.de, wikipedia.org]. The one-piece design combined with a completely smooth face and visible corner press indexing marks represents a very brief window of early factory tooling when the RLB was in its infancy. Because production numbers for these early nickel-silver variants were strictly limited before the mid-war expansion of civil defense, heavy Buntmetall RLB buckles are highly prized investments for advanced collectors today.
