Rare Erbhof Sign – Marked No. 2 – Original Attic Find

A rare and fully authentic cast iron Reichsnährstand "Erbhof" sign (Erbhof-Erkennungszeichen), representing a unique historical artifact from the 1933–1945 period. This item was recently discovered at an Austrian farmstead and has never been part of a private collection before. It is preserved in its genuine, uncleaned state, covered with natural dust from decades of storage and light rust spots, which highlights its historical integrity. The front features the prominent Odal rune and the word "Erbhof" in Fraktur script. The reverse of the plaque bears a rare, embossed numerical mark "2". The sign measures 25 x 20.5 cm.

These signs were a direct result of the "Reichserbhofgesetz" (Reich Hereditary Farm Law) of September 29, 1933. The National Socialists viewed farmers as the primary representatives of the people, aiming to protect the peasantry and secure ancestral land for the family. Under this law, an Aryan farm could only be passed to the eldest son if he could prove his Aryan lineage back to at least 1800. These signs were displayed at designated "Erbhof" farms until 1945, after which most were removed and destroyed. Due to its provenance and untouched condition, this specimen is an exceptionally rare and sought-after piece for any serious collection.
