Rare Children's Toy Helmet – Kinderstahlhelm – Double Decal – Original

An original German children's helmet, referred to by collectors as the Kinderstahlhelm, crafted from pressed sheet metal. This is a rare double-decal version, featuring both insignia preserved in very good condition. The shell retains a significant amount of its original paint, displaying a natural patina and signs of metal oxidation. The design includes characteristic vent holes in the form of raised rivets, modeled after early military helmet designs. Although the inner liner has not survived, the helmet shell remains in good structural condition and serves as an excellent example of historical paramilitary merchandise.

Historical context:
These types of helmets were produced in Germany between 1933 and 1945 as educational toys for children and youth. Their purpose was to familiarize the younger generation with military aesthetics and prepare them for future service. Due to being made from thinner metal than combat helmets, most were destroyed or heavily corroded over time, making double-decal examples with original paint highly sought-after by collectors today.
