Description

An investment-grade centerpiece for high-end militaria collections – an authentic German NSKK Marine (naval/motorboat squadrons) Model 1936 chained service dagger. This extraordinary piece combines two of the most elusive collecting variations: the specialized naval branch hardware and a historic period-ground Ernst Röhm presentation blade. The straight, double-edged steel blade proudly preserves its deeply etched factory motto „Alles für Deutschland” on the obverse. The reverse side showcases distinct, authentic grinding marks from the period used to entirely erase the inscription and signature of SA Chief Ernst Röhm following the 1934 political purges. The dark-tinted contoured natural wooden grip is tightly secure and contains flush-mounted original inserts: the national eagle and the enameled SA/NSKK runic roundel. Uniquely to the Marine units, the crossguards and scabbard fittings are finished in a correct, factory-applied gold-brass plating over a nickel base. The magnetic metal scabbard retains its factory black lacquer finish with honest checking and surface tarnish. It comes complete with the original gold-washed multi-link M36 officer's suspension chain featuring crisp, deeply struck political and runic emblems ending in a functional clip.

Historical Context:
The naval units of the motorized corps (NSKK Marine / Kraftbootstandarte) operated watercraft and coastal motorboats, forming an extremely small percentage of the broader NSKK organization. Their distinct daggers with gold-brass fittings are correspondingly among the rarest Third Reich dress daggers ever produced. This specific piece originally featured an early 1934 Ernst Röhm presentation signature. Following Röhm's execution during the "Night of the Long Knives" in June 1934, strict directives forced personnel to grind the name off their blades. When the prestigious officer's chained M36 suspension was introduced in 1936 alongside the mandate to lacquer all motor corps scabbards in black, this veteran, historically ground blade was factory-mated into the elite chained NSKK Marine configuration, creating a masterful and exceptionally rare historical artifact
