Original German porcelain figurine of a sitting dachshund puppy. This is an exceptionally rare polychrome edition of model no. 2, designed by the world-renowned sculptor Professor Theodor Kärner. The underside of the base bears full markings: the green underglaze Allach runic stamp within an octagon, along with the impressed designer’s name and model number. This piece is distinguished by its masterful, naturalistic hand-painted finish in shades of brown and tan, showcasing exceptional detail in the facial expression. The figurine is fully glazed and remains in pristine condition, representing one of the most desirable items from this manufacture.
Historical context:
The Allach manufacture produced high-end porcelain where animal sculptures by Kärner were considered the pinnacle of artistic achievement. Painted variants were produced in significantly smaller quantities than the standard white glazes, often making them the centerpiece of elite porcelain and historical collections.
