Original German NSDAP member's armband (Kampfbinde) produced in the desirable high-grade woolen specification for uniform wear. The main body of the armband is tailored from thick, high-quality red wool showing a solid woven texture. The center features a separately applied white cotton circle showcasing a black swastika constructed from textured ribbed grosgrain ribbon. All components are attached using crisp, clean factory machine stitching. The interior of the armband retains its original, fully intact paper RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) quality control tag. The tag features the printed blue RZM circular logo, series letter A, and the specific serial number 303231. The item remains in excellent overall condition, free of moth damage or fraying, with the red wool maintaining its deep period dye. This armband represents a textbook, unmanipulated example of official political insignia spanning the 1933–1945 era.
Historical context:
The swastika armband served as the primary and most universal identification emblem for registered members of the National Socialist party and its affiliated formats, worn strictly on the upper left sleeve. While basic armbands utilized lightweight cotton, these premium wool (Wolle) variants were custom ordered for heavy wool winter tunics and dress overcoats. The Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) quartermaster bureau strictly regulated production quality to maintain uniform standards across the Reich. The presence of the serial-numbered paper tag on the inside confirms it passed official inspection before retail distribution. Finding these cloth items today with their fragile paper tags fully preserved adds a substantial premium for advanced militaria collectors.
