Description

Original Italian ceremonial dagger issued to officers of the Voluntary Militia for National Security (MVSN) and high-ranking PNF officials.
Model 1937, famously known as the "becco d'aquila" (eagle beak) due to the stylized eagle-head pommel design.
The hilt is constructed from polished aluminum, featuring a downward-curving crossguard.
Grip plates are made of black synthetic material (ebonite/bakelite), secured with a single central rivet.
The obverse grip features an inset gilded National Fascist Party (PNF) emblem depicting the fasces.
Straight, double-edged steel blade with a diamond cross-section, showing original polish and minimal wear.
Black enameled metal scabbard with brass fittings: two hanger bands with rings and a long chape ending in a ball finial.
The piece exhibits natural aging on the brass parts and minor surface wear, confirming its historical provenance.

Historical context:
The Model 1937 dagger was a key status symbol for officers of the MVSN (Blackshirts), Mussolini's paramilitary volunteer militia. Its design blended 1930s industrial aesthetics with Ancient Roman symbolism, representing the elite status of the wearer within the Fascist regime. It was worn exclusively with dress uniforms for parades and official ceremonies.
