Historical Context
This is a "tinnie" (Veranstaltungsabzeichen), a commemorative badge issued for the regional Hitlerjugend (HJ - Hitler Youth) day event in Düsseldorf, held on May 28, 1933. Early badges from 1933 often commemorated local rallies and events, and their sale served to raise funds for the party or organization's causes. The name "Schlageter" refers to Albert Schlageter, a German nationalist and activist who was sentenced to death and executed by the French during the occupation of the Ruhr in 1923, becoming a martyr and hero of the Nazi propaganda in the Third Reich.
