Original German brown leather frog for the Mauser S.84/98 bayonet made of heavy-duty natural leather. This early production model features four aluminum rivets and original linen stitching. The reverse side shows very clear and deep manufacturer markings for Anton Schuler Hamburg along with the production year 1939. Above the maker's mark there is a legible LBA (Luftwaffe Bekleidungsamt) inspection stamp confirming official issue to Luftwaffe units. The leather remains flexible and strong with no structural cracks and all stitching is intact. Rivets are firmly set with a natural aged patina and minor oxidation. The leather surface shows authentic signs of field use and a well-preserved hole for the bayonet scabbard hook. This item is a rare Luftwaffe contract piece in good condition.
Historical context:
The LBA (Luftwaffe Bekleidungsamt) marking on leather equipment confirms its official acceptance by the Air Force clothing department. Early brown frogs from 1939 were standard issue for Luftwaffe personnel, including Flak units and emerging field divisions. Due to lower production numbers compared to the Army (Heer), pieces with full Luftwaffe markings are significantly rarer and highly sought after by collectors.
