Original German Honour Cross of the German Mother (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter) 1st Class in Gold. The obverse features blue and white enamel detailing with a central swastika on a shield, surrounded by the inscription "DER DEUTSCHEN MUTTER". Gilded metal rays extend between the arms of the cross. The smooth reverse displays the engraved institution date "16. Dezember 1938" alongside a facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler. The award comes with its original, full-length blue and white patterned ribbon. It is housed in its original dark presentation case featuring a gilded cross emblem on the lid. The inner satin lining of the lid bears the manufacturer's mark: Paul Meybauer Berlin S.W.68. This is a pristine, textbook example of a complete historical award set.
Historical context:
The Mother's Cross was instituted on December 16, 1938, as part of the demographic policy and social propaganda of the Third Reich. This decoration aimed to honor women for exceptional merit to the nation through high childbirth rates. The Golden Class (1st Class) was awarded to mothers of eight or more children. The Berlin-based firm Paul Meybauer was a premier manufacturer of state awards, making complete sets with signed presentation boxes highly desirable among military collectors.
