Description

An extremely rare and highly sought-after golden police cap eagle (2nd pattern, 1936), intended for the headgear of General ranks, Wasserschutzpolizei (Water Police), or Verkehrspolizei (Traffic Police). This original piece is struck in high-quality aluminum and remains in pristine, factory-new condition (MINT). The reverse features the prominent maker mark of Hermann Aurich, Dresden, located on the swastyka section. The badge is fully intact, with both original mounting prongs present and functional. This is a top-tier investment-grade specimen, representing one of the most difficult-to-find variations of Third Reich police insignia.

Historical Context:
The 1936 reform standardized all civil police forces under the Ordnungspolizei. While standard units wore silver insignia, gold was strictly reserved for units with special status. The Wasserschutzpolizei adopted gold to align with naval traditions, while in the Verkehrspolizei, it identified elite motorized units. The use of gold-anodized aluminum ensured a durable shine—essential for the appearance of high-ranking officers. Hermann Aurich was renowned for superior craftsmanship, and their marked insignias are highly coveted by professional military historians today.
